Is it normal for children to sleep with open mouth?
There can be growth in tonsil and adenoid if children sleep with open mouth or snoring. If these diseases do not get treated, it may result with growth deficiency and hearing loss.
When should tonsils removed?
It is important that frequency of infections and medical treatment is not responding. The tonsils should be removed if they swell 5-6 times a year. The large tonsils and closing of the airway can cause children to snore and sleep with their mouth open.
What should be done if one of the tonsils is bigger than the other one?
If one of your tonsil is normal and other tonsil is too large or in the case where the appearance of a tonsil is in different from the other one, the tonsils should be removed with tumor suspicion.
